WELCOME BACK!

Welcome Back!

In the February 2005 issue I posted a farewell note since that issue was going to be our last. Since then we have been contacted by many readers who expressed their sadness to see the newsletter's five year run come to an end. Some of these readers also offered to write for the LCN to help bring it back. Well I am pleased to announce that we have managed to put together enough authors to continue the Learning Center Newsletter! We also have a new web designer that is responsible for the sharp new look you see in this issue.

Please join me in thanking our new contributors for helping bring back the LCN. These contributors are:

  • Stephen Burns, Antelope Valley College. Our Web Master and graphics designer.
  • Dennis H. Congos, University of Central Florida.
  • Kyle L. Cushman, Vermont College of Union Institute and University.
  • Andrea Kosling, Selkirk College.
  • Julianne Scibetta, University of the Sciences in Philadelphia
  • Linda Sweeney, National-Louis University.

You can read the excellent articles of our authors in this issue. Also check out their bio in the "About the Authors" section.

There was another exciting development that came out as a result of the February announcement. Frank Christ, one of the LCN strong supporters and long-time author, suggested to the National College Learning Center Association (NCLCA) that perhaps they can take over the LCN. The NCLCA executive board met and voted to assume the production of The Learning Center Newsletter via a partnership with AccuTrack - the LCN sponsor. With this partnership, the NCLCA will handle the article selection and editing, and AccuTrack will handle the website and membership services.

The new partnership with the NCLCA will start with the next issue of the LCN. From now on the articles will go directly to the NCLCA for selection and editing. The NCLCA will send the selected articles to the LCN Web Master for publication. Watch out for a call for articles from the NCLCA soon. We are pleased to see the NCLCA get involved in the newsletter and look forward to working with them on future issues.

As for me, I will serve as an advisor to the LCN and will continue to handle its membership services.

Finally, on behalf of AccuTrack and the Learning Center Newsletter I would like to thank you all for your support.

Enjoy the new issue.
