Kyle Cushman has her Master's in English:Writing from the University of New Hampshire. She is now pursuing her MFA in Poetry at Vermont College of Union Institute and University. A 7-12 English teacher for many years in Maine, Colorado and New Mexico, she currently works as an Academic Support Specialist at the Academic Support Network (ASN) at Vermont College. She writes for MasterTeacher.com and has co-published an article, "An Integrated Model for Academic Support" in Purdue's Writing Lab Newsletter. She has also led workshops on integrated academic support and learning style awareness at colleges and organizations around the state of Vermont.
Dennis is currently a learning skills specialist and academic advisor at the University of Central Florida. He has also served as a Supplemental Instruction (SI) Coordinator for 18 years and is a Nationally Certified SI Trainer. He has trained staff from over 100 institutions in setting up and running SI programs. Dennis has consulted on learning skills and SI in England and in Jordan. He has also published 24 articles in professional journals on college level learning skills and SI. He has been director of a counseling center, learning center and career development center and has presented at many conferences on learning skills and SI.
Elke Kleisch is the Coordinator for the Chicago campus Center for Academic
Development, the learning center of National-Louis University. She specializes
in working with students to develop their reading and writing skills.
Elke earned a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communications from Illinois
State University and a Master of Arts in Developmental Studies from
National-Louis University. Prior to her work at NLU, she taught adult
basic education, English for Speakers of Other Languages, and GED classes
at local community centers. Currently, she is pursuing her doctorate
in Reading and Language at National-Louis University.
Julianne is currently a graduate student at University at Albany. She worked for two years in academic support supervising tutoring, supplemental instruction, and study skills seminars. She most recently received her graduate certification in academic advising from the National Academic Advising Association. As one born on the cusp between Gen-Xers and Millennials, she has given several lectures on the current Millennial condition.
Mon is the founder and editor of the Learning Center Newsletter. He is also the developer of AccuTrack, a learning center reporting software. Mon received his Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering in 1993, and followed it by an MS in Engineering Management in 1996. Mon is a software development manager at Engineerica Systems, Inc. Stephen Burns is the Tutorial Specialist for the General Tutoring and
Supplemental Instruction programs at Antelope Valley College. Stephen
received a BS in Computer Imaging from Charter Oak State College, a
graduate certificate in Web Programming from City University, and a
MS in Computing Technology in Education from Nova Southeastern University.
He is currently pursuing a doctorate from NSU.
Mona Pelkey is the Course Director of the Reading Efficiency Course at the United States Military Academy, West Point. In addition to instructing the course, she also instructs the Information Literacy and Critical Thinking Course. Mona holds a Master of Science in Education from State University of New York, Potsdam College, and is a doctoral learner in the Leadership in Higher Education program at Capella University. Mona serves as an editor for the Learning Center Newsletter.
Linda is an assistant professor with National-Louis University in the Department of Adult, Continuing, and Literacy Education. This department came about from merging Adult Education and Developmental Studies. National-Louis has one of the few master's levels programs for developmental education (Adult Literacy) in the entire U.S.. Linda is also program director of Technology and Online for ACLE. She has developed graduate and undergraduate courses, as well as taught online for more than five years.
