Editorial WelcomeBy Mona Pelkey |

Dear Readers, As the academic year draws to a close, many of us look backward and take stock of our accomplishments even as we look forward to forthcoming opportunities. As your editor for the past three years, I feel proud as I look back on our accomplishments here at The Learning Center Exchange. Our authors have, month after month, shared their ideas and expertise with colleagues across the U.S. by publishing articles in this venue. We have received feedback from numerous readers, indicating that they look forward to each issue because the information disseminated here is helpful to them as they strive to improve their practices. Perhaps most rewarding is knowing that, through our efforts, each of us truly has made a difference in the lives of students and one another. The existence of this fine publication relies solely upon the generosity of volunteers. Some of our volunteers have spent many months (or in some cases, years) writing for The Learning Center Exchange. Earlier this year, our writing columnist, Kyle Cushman, experienced a career change, and subsequently had to say goodbye to LCE. This month, Barbara McLay writes her final humor column as she begins her retirement. Best wishes, Barbara! This is also my last issue. My own career path has taken a new direction, and so I too must reluctantly pass the baton.
This leaves The Learning Center Exchange in urgent need of authors/submissions
for the next academic year. Please consider sharing your knowledge,
experiences, observations, research results, techniques, practices,
and/or humor with your fellow colleagues in this forum. Writing for
LCE is rewarding in so many ways! It is a great way to break into “getting
published” and it is a good way to get your name “out there.”
It is a wonderful way to share what you know with your colleagues, so
that more students can be helped. It’s a great way to begin dialogue
about subjects you care about. It is a truly fun way to volunteer your
time and talents for a worthy cause. Mona Questions or comments? Contact the author at mpelkey@learningassistance.com. |
